Just outside of Anchorage in Turnagain Arm. Saw some beluga whales here. Almost missed them, because we were looking for spouts. They don't spout.
Paula feeding a baby musk ox at the Musk Ox farm. They have soft wet little noses.
Denali and fog by Paula.
Big moose at Denali National Park.
Big grizzley in Denali. We saw a couple very close here. This one walked down the road in front of our bus for a while.
Paula and Denali. We were very lucky. It was obscured for at least 4 days before we got there, and every other day after.
Denali and a tiny piece of Wonder Lake.
Above Wonder Lake, getting some of the fall colors in the shot.
Fall colors reflected in a pond. It was really a picture of a loon, but it didn't cooperate.
Northern hawk owl. It was really far away, so the sharpness isn't much. I like the background, because it looks painted.
Dall sheep reclining on a cliff. There is a female to the left (not in photo).
My first caribou!
The oldest bear at Brooks Camp. She is 27 years old. Her number is 410, but the researchers affectionately call her 4-ton.
The lone bear that we saw at the falls. He wasn't very good at catching fish.
Bear #402 and 4 cubs (one is hiding behind her). She abandoned a cub last year, but it got adopted by Holly.
Brown bear looking at seagulls. "They might just taste like chicken."
Holly's cubs wrestling in the water. The bigger one on the left is that abandoned cub that got adopted.
Mountains across from Seward.
Sea otter that very kindly posed for pictures.
